Pokerstars Tournament Choices

Pokerstars is not only the largest online poker room, but they also hold more tournaments than anyone else. Whether you prefer sit-n-go tournaments, large-field tournaments, micro-stakes or high stakes, Pokerstars has it. They also have Steps tournaments which are very popular for players who like a lot of bang for their buck.

Pokerstars Sit-N-Go Tournaments

Pokerstars offers sit-n-go tournaments in a variety of styles. Choose between short-handed or full table, turbo, super-turbo, shootouts, freezeouts, rebuys, and more. Sit-n-go tournaments have a buy-in range between $1.10 – $2,190. They are offered in all game choices which include Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, 5 Card Stud, Single Draw 2-7, Triple Draw 2-7, Razz, Badugi, and a variety of mixed games like HORSE and HOSE.

For newer players or players that want to slowly yet consistently build a bankroll, play in the Double or Nothing sit-n-go tournaments. In these tournaments, tables of 10 players vie for the top 5 spots where each player doubles their buy-in amount. Whether you have a huge stack or a mini-stack doesn’t matter, just make it into the top 5 and everyone gets the same amount.

The Sunday Million – $1.5 Million Guaranteed Tournament

Pokerstars is home to the largest weekly guaranteed tournament, the Sunday Million. The Sunday Million has a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million bucks. The Sunday Million has a direct buy-in of $215, with satellites that start for as little as $2 or 100 FPP’s. The top prize for the Sunday Million is typically in the $200k range!

They also host the 3rd largest weekly tournament, called the Sunday Warmup. The Sunday Warmup has a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, and the top prize is generally around $140k. The direct buy-in is $215, and satellites are available for $3 or 200 FPP’s.

World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP)

If you’ve always wanted to play in the World Series of Poker but can’t come up with thousands of dollars to do it, you can play in the online equivalent, the WCOOP. The World Championship of Online Poker is a tournament series which includes multiple events of various game types. The 2008 WCOOP had a guaranteed prize pool of $30,000,000 and 2009 will probably be even bigger. Pokerstars holds satellite tournaments for every event, many of them offering FPP buy-ins and cash buy-ins of less than $2.

Other Live Tournaments

Pokerstars runs satellite tournaments for most most of the major worldwide live events. These include the WSOP, WSOPE, WPT, EPT, Asia Pacific Poker Tour, Latin American Poker Tour, Russian Poker Tour, World Cup of Poker, Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure, Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, Aussie Millions, and more.
